A 3 day long weekend in April allowed us to head back to revisit the Wyperfeld sand dunes. Set in the lovely Mallee area of Victoria, the quiet outback town of Rainbow is located at the base of Lake Albacutya. Our journey started in Rainbow with a drive north around the dry bed lake bed before heading north west to take on the sandy dunes across Wyperfeld.

Our journey continued further north by entering the Big Desert State Forest. It was here that our convoy had some fun playing around on the Ross Springs dunes. There is some great video taken here with sand flying & wheels spinning as each vehicle attempted to climb a steep dune.

Our last day took us down the famous Victoria / South Australian border track. Although rain clouds hung about, the sand was still soft. This was a challenge many of our convoy as we made our way over dune after dune.

With a staked tyre & some difficult dune crossings we ran behind time. Our trip finally wound up after exiting the Border Track along the Red Bluff Track and heading home via Nhill.
